• What does PTO stand for? 

• PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization and is a nonprofit group made up of parents, teachers, staff, and community members who work together to support our school. Basically we're a group of people who care about what happens at the school, and what to make it a better place for the kids who go there and the staff that work there. 

• If I come to a meeting, does that mean I have to sign my life away to the PTO?

• Nope!  Our meetings are casual, friendly and usually involve snacks.  Mrs. Marty joins us along with another member of the staff so it's a great way to find out what's happening at the school.  It's also a great way to meet other parents at the school.  We will ask for your email, but we promise to use it sparingly!  No contracts, blood oaths, or vows will be required.  😂

• How often do you have meetings and where are they located?

• Glad you asked!  We will have meetings at 6:30 p.m. on September 15th, November 17th, January 19th, March 23rd and May 18th.  This year we are changing the location of the meetings to the cafeteria located right by the main doors so you don't have to walk through the whole school to find the Media Center!  You're welcome!  

• Do I have to do anything special to join the PTO?

• Not at all!  If your child attends Royal Oaks, you're already part of our school community. There's no membership fee, and you're welcome to participate as much—or as little—as your schedule allows.

• How can I help?

• Let me count the ways!

Every little bit helps.

• I don't have much spare time.  Can I still help?

• You betcha!  Some volunteers give several hours a month, while others help for just one event each year. Every contribution makes a difference, and we appreciate whatever time you can give.

•  How does the PTO raise money?

  • A little bit at a time—and with a lot of school spirit! 🎉

  • Throughout the year, we raise funds through spirit wear sales, Culver's nights and other restaurant nights, special events, and donations from our amazing ROES families.

  • The star of the show is our annual ROES Fun Run! It's our biggest fundraiser of the year and one of our favorite traditions. Students have a blast running with their classmates while raising money that goes right back into our school to support teachers, students, family events, and programs that make Royal Oaks an even better place to learn.

• What does the PTO do with the money raised?

• Every dollar raised stays at Royal Oaks and directly benefits our students, teachers, and school community.

• We strive to make sure we use the funds responsibly to make a difference in our schools.   Staff funds are provided to all licensed staff to enhance their classroom and provide necessary supplies to the students.  We also include a big goal with our Fun Runs each year.  Previous purchases include the Rock Wall in the gym and the Book Vending Machine.  We also use the funds to provide free family nights throughout the year.  These include our Back to School Bash, Bingo Night and End of Year Extravaganza.  Plus so much more!  If you'd like more detailed information, please email us or come to a meeting where we provide the latest Treasury Report.
